It is through this unwavering compassion that we are able to help nearly 10 000 birds and mammals each year more than 320 species to date in addition to thousands of other animals we are able to assist through community outreach partnerships and telephone triage.

Learning through action at sdfar gives everyone an opportunity to connect with horses pigs chickens and other animals in a unique hands on experience. Volunteers must also pass our dog handling class which is given as part of the club pet volunteer orientation and training program. At sdfar our educational experiences teach children adults and families about compassion for all animals.

We do not have a shelter or facility all of our rescue dogs are in private homes. Volunteers in this position will greet guests as they arrive to our. Volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation which is usually are on a saturday. Our medical staff and volunteers operate under one word.
